Customers under 21
Customers under 21 are in a unique situation at the moment, rapidly changing for the better. You can vote, enlist in the military, carry a handgun openly or concealed in Texas, and purchase rifles and shotguns, but you're not alowed to purchase alcohol, the handguns you're allowed to carry, ammunition for those handguns, Shockwave type smoothbores, or firearm receivers such as Glock lowers or AR-15 lowers. There are indications in the courts that some of this may change soon, but until then, I am bound as a FFL to follow the rules as set forth in the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA).
Customers under 21 are also subject to an automatic waiting period unless they possess a Texas License to Carry (LTC). You can now obtain a Texas License To Carry at age 18, and I highly encourage you to do so, as that will enable you to carry concealed on any state college campus. However, no matter if you have a LTC or not, I'm unable to sell you a handgun, or ammunition for a handgun. I am, however, able to sell you the exact same ammunition for a rifle, and you are able to purchase a handgun, or any other Title 1 firearm, from any other Texas resident.
So, if you have a Texas LTC, our process for you is as follows: pick out gun, fill out 4473, present LTC, pay for gun, walk out w/ rifle or shotgun.
If you don't have an LTC, don't fret - you get to come to TWO gun shows! Pick our your rilfe or shotgun, do the paperwork, we'll run your NICS check, and it will give us an automatic Delay and a Brady Transfer date. If we've not received an answer from the FBI by the Brady Transfer date, we will transfer your rifle or shotgun to you at the next gunshow you can meet us at - provided it's within 30 days of the NICS check date. That's typically going to give you two weeks for you to come pick up your firearm. Please see our schedule to see the most convenient show to meet us at.
There's yet another wrinkle. NICS can EXTEND your Brady Transfer date. If that happens, we'll give you a call, and work out a gun show to meet you at after the Brady date, but before the NICS check expires.
If that's not possible for you, please contact us. While we want to sell you a gun, if we're unable to do so, we still want you to buy a gun from the best provider to you possible. We're happy to help you find options that work better with your schedule.
If you are transferring a gun, please let us know what is coming in, and your contact information. We'll let you know when the rifle or shotgun arrives, and we'll agree on a show to knock out the paperwork. If you already have an LTC, we'll transfer the gun to you at that show. If you don't, we'll agree on a show after the Brady Transfer date, but before the 30 day limit on the NICS check, meet you at that show, and transfer it to you then. Please don't attempt to transfer AR lowers, handguns, or Shockwave/Pistol Grip smoothbores until you turn 21. Please see the Transfers page for more information.
