Resident and non-resident Aliens

Welcome to the United States! We're happy you're visiting the US, and very happy some of you have jumped through all the legal hoops to get your Green Card. Yes, you can buy a gun. The two situations are a bit different, so let me address Permanent Resident Aliens first.

Permanent Resident Aliens just need to present their current Green Card, and a state Drivers License, ID, or License to Carry w/ photo. If you are in the process of renewing your Green Card, and your issued one is not current, we will need to see the physical letter CIS sent you about your renewal - a tiny picture of it on your cellphone is not sufficient. Please put down your Green Card # on the 4473.

Non-resident Aliens need to show me your national passport, including any visas, as well as a current hunting license showing your address. If you're here on a Work visa and have US ID of some sort, all the better, but I'll still need a current hunting license. Hunting licenses can be obtained at any WalMart, as well as various state offices & most hunting oriented outdoors stores such as Academy. Please enter your current US address (must match your hunting license) on the 4473. If your state's hunting license doesn't show your current US address, we'll need a US governmental verification of your current US address - please see the 4473 page.
